The rise in chronic diseases like diabetes and the increasing number of accident-related injuries demand proficient wound care practitioners. In Mauritius, statistics show that diabetes is on the rise, but more alarming is the trend that diabetics (Type II) are increasingly being diagnosed in younger age. This programme equips students with the knowledge and skills necessary to assess, treat and manage a variety of wound types, contributing significantly to patient
recovery and wellbeing. It also promotes the implementation of evidence-based practices in wound management, reducing the risk of complications and enhancing patient outcomes.
Course Aims
The overall objective of the wound management curriculum is to prepare students for careers in wound care nursing, research, and community program development by providing them with a thorough understanding of the wound healing process and the various factors that influence the lives of patients with wounds.
