Description:

The aims of the course are to provide an education which equips students with a range of competencies which support a career as Health and Safety Practitioners in both the private and public sectors. Accredited by IOSH, the overall aim of the course is to provide a vocationally oriented programme of study, to Honours degree level, for both those currently engaged in and those who wish to make a future career in Safety, Health and Environmental Management. Implicit within this aim is that our graduates will have qualities of confidence, independent critical judgement, leadership and the ability to work as part of the team delivering a safe and healthy workplace.


Learning Outcomes:

Upon successful completion of this course, it is expected that graduates will:


| Work professionally managing a complex range occupational safety and health issues.

| Demonstrate advancement of their knowledge and understanding of risks and risk management as applied to occupational health safety and welfare in all workplaces.

| Function effectively in a dynamic digital global working environment through an ability to act autonomously, and plan and implement tasks in a professional manner, using a range of traditional and electronic methods or equipment.

| Communicate using digital and traditional methods to all levels of the workforce to ensure professional advice or decisions can be understood by specialist and non-specialist audiences.

| Apply research techniques and use of original thought to enable competence to be maintained.

| Determine their personal professional development needs and adopt a reflective learning approach to support them operating effectively in a dynamic digital global working environment.

Entry Requirements

  1. Applicants holding a Health and Safety qualification recognised by IOSH or
  2. Any Diploma in similar discipline + significant relevant work experience within the health and safety industry or Equivalent

Awarding Institution

The degree is awarded by Leeds Beckett University UK and is offered in Mauritius in collaboration with Rushmore Business School.
